Security incident
A gunman opened fire at the magnetometer screening area outside the Washington Hilton ballroom on the night of the 2026 White House Correspondents' Dinner. The President, First Lady, Vice President, and Cabinet officials were evacuated unharmed. One Secret Service agent was struck in a bullet-resistant vest and is expected to recover.
