This National Hurricane Preparedness Week, I encourage every American living in high-risk coastal areas to take proactive steps to protect their families, homes, and neighborhoods before disaster strikes. Through staying informed and preparing for emergencies, we can reduce damage, safeguard lives, and recover more quickly from these dangerous storms.

As we approach hurricane season, every person can take meaningful steps today by investing in property protections, creating emergency plans, , and assembling essential supplies. Staying aware of storm forecasts and evacuation routes ensures that families are ready to act at a moment’s notice. These simple efforts not only protect lives and homes—they also strengthen the resilience of our Nation for future generations.

State leaders, local governments, and community members stand on the frontlines of hurricane preparedness. With the full support of the Federal Government, communities can deploy resources more efficiently, reduce the burden of bureaucracy, and rebuild faster and stronger. Under my leadership, we are investing in the people who are closest to these disasters to take preventative steps and drive recovery where it matters most. Together, we will ensure that no American is left without the support they need.

Americans deserve a Government that protects their lives, responds to their needs in times of crisis, and invests in resources to prevent hurricane damage from devastating our Nation’s communities. For this reason, my Administration continues to transform the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) into a streamlined and effective partner for the American people. We have drastically cut the timelines to deliver funding into the hands of hurricane survivors, deploy FEMA responders to areas affected by storms, and complete debris removal efforts that families need and deserve.

This week, we extend our thoughts and prayers to every family across our country that has been touched by deadly hurricanes—and we express our deepest gratitude to the countless first responders who risk their safety to save lives, help others in need, and recover rapidly while taking measures to prevent or mitigate damage from future storms.
